Christopher does not trust anyone who lies, because he does not understand that sometimes lies can be in someone’s best interest. When Christopher’s Father, Edward Boone confesses to lying to him, he no longer trusts his father. His father did not mean to hurt him, but decided it was easier to lie than explain the truth. Mr. Shears has an affair with Christopher’s mother, Judy Boone. This betrayal destroys not only Christopher’s family, but the shears family as well. //thesis statement as last line in first paragraph//’ Christopher, who has difficulty communicating with others, is the basis for most of the conflicts in the story. When Christopher was questioned by the police officer, he found the questions overwhelming. When touched, Christopher hit the officer and was promptly arrested. When Christopher’s father admits to killing Wellington, Christopher no longer trusts his father. He runs away to live with his mother. Christopher does not like new people or places, and the idea of finding getting to London himself is daunting. Christopher’s journey to find his mother creates conflict in the story by making Christopher overcome obstacles he is faced with.
