Hurricanes include torrential rains, raging winds and storm surges. The center of the storm is usually 20-30 miles wide and the storm itself can spread over 4000 miles. Hurricanes can last for 2 weeks or more over the open sea and can rage across a total distance from one end to the other end of the Eastern Seaboard. The most frequent location that hurricanes occur is the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, with the western Pacific experiencing the most frequent hurricane occurrences. Sometimes countries like the Philippines are struck with around 20 tropical storms and typhoons in the same year. The expression is used for an assortment of storms according to their location.
