Human Resources (HR) Reflection prom I have learned how much graduate recruiters really use social networking sites, it was a lot more than I expected. Due to this the importance of branding yourself positively online is so very important when applying for graduate jobs. LinkedIn can act as an online CV so should be treated like that when being written i.e. really sell yourself, correct spellings, don’t lie! As I am interested in the NHS I have learnt about different groups I can join to network and gather information on particular job roles. I’ve also learnt that it looks good to employers to be a member of the relevant professional body on LinkedIn. I’ve learnt not only the importance of LinkedIn but also how to use personal networking sites sensibly. Once you post something online it will always be there, so think before posting! An example of this was Paris Brown resigning from job due to Twitter row (BBC News, 2013). This highlighted how seriously what seem like throw away comments can be taken and the impact they can have on your working life. From this I learnt the importance of privacy setting’s on Facebook, to ensure my personal life is kept private and to think before I post things on Twitter, always remembering that what I write will be online forever.
