The purpose of this paper is to analyze the given case, i.e., “Hewlett-Packard: The Flight of the Kittyhawk (A)”. It has been established from the given case that in the year 1992, HP(Hewlett-Packard) developed the most innovative drive disk that had the diameter of approximately 1.3 inches. The drive was named as Kittyhawk. DMD (Disk Memory Division) was used to produce the drive that had a considerably narrow capacity of storage, as compared to another available disk drive. The company tried its best to ensure the successful sales of this innovative product, but unfortunately the device could not gain expected hype and got fail just after two years of its launching. It has been established from the analysis of the study of Christensen (2006) that before the launching of Kittyhawk, DMD was admired by the customers and also enabled the company to gain higher profitability.
