Week 1 – Introduction – Globalization, the changing global political economy and public policy (1 October 2013) This introductory lecture explores some of the key debates in relation to globalization and public policy. In doing so, it will examine the different and interrelated dimensions of globalization-financial, political, cultural and social-and offer a brief account of the different relevant theoretical perspectives. The main aim of the lecture is to provide a backcloth for the more detailed sessions which follow and to explore the degree to which ‘globalist’ confuses or clarifies public policy debate.
