Na’im Akbar presents several crucial aspects of African Americans’ social as well as psychological lives which have been congealed by the immensely unnatural trend of slavery. The book precisely deals with the African Americans’ psychological states and its impact on their social lives which have an intrinsic association with the historic trend of slavery. Slavery is highly unnatural and it has several intense psychological impacts not only on the slave but also on its future generations. This book presents this idea in the light of African American lifestyle in the contemporary times. African Americans have most significantly suffered from the brutal event of slavery in the past; the brutality of slavery is so intense that it has its influence even in the lives of present African American generation (Akbar 3-7). Akbar has argued on several aspects of slavery in the context of African American race in this book which entirely have my consent, however, this paper will present some of the arguments which are significantly influencing in the understanding of slavery and its grave psychological impacts.
