Discussion Question 1
The clinical presentation of acute prostatitis, benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), and prostate cancer are markedly different. Differentiate between these three diseases by focusing on patient symptoms, findings on clinical examination, and diagnostic testing used to confirm the diagnosis. Discuss a detailed patient education plan that will help the patient maintain proper health. Your plan should address medications that may be prescribed, follow-up plans, and possible referrals to other healthcare providers.
Discussion Question 2
A 32-year-old female patient has an abnormal Pap smear with a grade CIN 2, High-grade SIL by Bethesda System criteria. She had the exam performed at a free women’s clinic and of course is concerned about the results. This is her first Pap smear. She is single, but has had the same sexual partner for five years. Her menstrual cycle is normal, but she is about 5 days late, which is unusual for her. She has never been pregnant. Develop a patient education plan that focuses on the possible causes of the abnormal Pap smear, further screening examinations that need to be performed, and treatment plan. If this patient presented with infertility, obesity, and hirusitism, how might this change your diagnoses and treatment plan?
